A two days’ workshop was organized by the School of Signals for commanding officers and officers who are eligible to appoint as commanding officers in due cause.
The workshop was commenced on 09 December 2021 at Mercury house, Diyathalawa. Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General P A J Peiris ndu made the opening address and commenced two days workshop as scheduled. Thereafter, according to the programme lectures were conducted and Commander Signal Brigade Brigadier G L S W Liyanage USP psc conducted his lecture initially and it is very essential and important lecture on “What is my Role as Commanding Officers”.
The proceeding of the first day was included with a wide array of subjects, namely: Legal responsibilities of a Commanding Officer conducted by Major N R M R A Giragama from Directorate of Legal and a lecture conducted by Mr. Isuru Achintha Ekanayaka a senior lecturer of Sabaragamuwa university of Sri Lanka, covering few areas of management; management concepts and best practices, communication in organization and critical thinking.
The programme of the second day also unfolded with a lecture conducted by Professor Lilantha Samaranayaka of Peradeniya university of Sri Lanka, introducing robotics. Then Commander K H N Kulapathi from Centre for Defence Research and Development conducted lecture on drone technology and drone mapping. Introducing to hologram lecture was conducted by Colonel K V P Dhammika USP ptsc. The second day’s final lecture was done by Major R M C D Jayawardana from Directorate of Internal Audit on how to overcome financial issues at unit level.
Finally, closing address was delivered by Brigadier General Staff SFHQ (Cen) Brigadier K A W S Rathnayake ndu and concluded the content of the workshop successfully.
