ARMY TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 TO THE CORPS OF SIGNALS
The 2nd Triathlon Competition of the Army, covering the athletic spheres of Swimming, Cycling and Running took place on 1st July 2017 near the banks of the Chandrika Lake, Embilipitiya.
The tripartite competition uniquely consisted with 750m swimming event, 20km cycling event and 5km running event was organized for both men and women in the Army. This was a continuing effort of the Army Athletic Committee and numbering over 100 competitors from more than 10 Regiments of the Army participated the event.
During this competition, by completing all three events in 1 hour and 3 minutes, Signalman Perera J A L of Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) marked his dominant victory as the Army Triathlon Champion of the year 2017.
Signalman Perera J A L joined the Sri Lanka Army on 17th July 2009 and was posted to 7 SLSC. He is an old boy of Uduwana Secondary School, Kaluthara who was groomed into the sports of swimming and cycling from the school level.
