3 SLSC INAUGURATES NEWLY BUILT TRAINING WING ACCOMMODATION/ MINI LECTURE HALL AND WARRANT OFFICERS & SERGENT MESS ACCOMMODATION

New full-fledged training wing and Warrant Officers & Sergent mess accommodation of the 3rd Signal Regiment was formally inaugurated on 10th December 2021 during a simple ceremony, graced by Major General PAJ Peiris ndu Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signals Corps, and with the participation of Brigadier GS Fonseka USP psc Regimental Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps on the invitation of Lieutenant Colonel HADW Hettiarachchi USP psc Commanding Officer 3 SLSC.

The new training wing with seating capacity of 60 will provide modern and functional training space for the troops of 3 SLSC. Warrant Officers & Sergent mess accommodation fulfills a longstanding requirement; new building consists of spacious rooms, guests’ reception section and entertainment area. The construction project was completed by troops of the 3 SLSC.

The day’s warming ceremony got to a start with the arrival of Colonel Commandant, who was honoured in a formal Guard Turnout at the main entrance, after Commanding Officer warmly received Major General Ashoka Peiris and escorted to the 3 SLSC War Heroes’ monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes to lay floral wreath to salute the memory of fallen 3 SLSC War Heroes.

The most important moment of the ceremony, dawned next when Colonel Commandant was invited to declare open both training wing building and Warrant Officers & Sergent mess accommodation building by cutting the ribbon and unveiling of plaques. Next Colonel Commandant was invited to leave memories by planting a sapling in the same compound. The day’s ceremony came to an end with a troops address. Speaking at the occasion, Major General PAJ Peiris ndu, Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signals Corps emphasised “Cyber’s status as the “fifth domain” of warfare alongside sea, land, air, and, space. Training plays vital role specially in building multi-skilled soldiers rather than conventional soldiers to face the modern day challenges”

The programme of the day went ahead with strict adherence to health directives issued for COVID – 19.
