As per the directions of the Commander Security Forces – Kilinochchi, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe and with the guidance of the General Officer Commanding 66 Infantry Division Major General Ajith Dissanayake, troops under command to the 661 Infantry Brigade established a ‘Walk in’ Community Vaccination Centre at Central College - Poonaryn on 07 July 2021, to administer first dose of Sinopharm vaccine to elders above 60 years of age.
This action was taken to boost the ongoing national vaccination programme by the Army and sister services. Furthermore, transport facilities were provided by three Army buses enabling people to reach the Vaccination Centre without any difficulty and wheel chair facility was also provided to the elders those who were having difficulties of walking.
Whilst medical teams from Army Base Hospital - Kilinochchi and 66 Infantry Division conducting the vaccination, Sri Lanka Air Force troops assisted for the registration process.
