The very first task assigned to 632 Bde was the capture of A 9 road from area Mankulam. During the operation the troops were deployed with the tactical guidance and orders of the Bde Comd and they were able to capture A 9 road from 236 Km post to Mankulam town. Then the area was further expanded up to 50 Sq Km. Later the Bde was deployed in Panikkakulam area. Next task assigned to the Bde was to capture the area up to old Kandy road up to A 35 road. During this operation the Bde was able to capture Shankar Base. Later the troops advanced further and captured the LTTE’s main two air strips at Iranamadu. Also they found a location of LTTE air craft hiding place.

With the continuation of the successes the Bde was assigned the task of capture of LTTE’s one of the most important areas of Pudukudiyirippu. The Bde was renamed as 682 Infantry Brigade and placed under Task Force 8. Then location was the area Manankandal. The Bde commenced its operations from Oddusudan and advanced towards Pudukudiyirippu. There they captured a LTTE suicide boats building factory. Later Bde captured the area of “Dara Point” which is located towards west of Nandikadal. Later the Bde established a FDL covering the Nandikadal lagoon front from western direction using troops from 15 SLLI, 18 GW, 1 VIR and 5 VIR. There they repulsed a LTTE attempt to break out the FDL in order to move towards Mullaitivu jungles on 17 May 2009. Then the LTTE were fixed in to Nandikadal Lagoon until the total loss of the LTTE organization and its leadership.
