In accordance with the instructions of the General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division, a blood donation campaign was successfully conducted to commemorate the 78th National Independence Day on 04 February 2026 at the Blood Transfusion Center of the District Hospital, Kilinochchi.
The programme saw the participation of 01 x 51 troops from the 55 Infantry Division, including personnel from the 551, 552, and 553 Infantry Brigades and their under-command battalions, in collaboration with the Kilinochchi Red Cross Society and the Northern Province People’s Rights Protection Organization.
Members of the civilian community, along with personnel of the Sri Lanka Police, also actively contributed to this worthy initiative. In appreciation of their voluntary service, the Red Cross Society awarded certificates of appreciation to all blood donors who participated in the programme.
