242 Infantry Brigade is presently located at Komari, Pottuvil area under 24 Infantry Division. This pestigious Brigade isinitially established as 8 Brigade and subsequently rename as 23 Brigade and 231 Brigade from year 1990 to 2003 at Walikanda. After that as 231 Brigade was relocated at Punani from 2003 to 2009, Singhapura from 2009 to 2010 and Sengamuwa from 2010 to 2011.
Again this Brigade was renamed as 632 Brigade and was relocated at Komari in 2013 and sebsequently renamed as 242 Infantry Brigade and is executing her duties and responsibilities up to date.
