Continuing its welfare treat for the consecutive sixth day,  Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) in close collaboration with both Sunquick Lanka Private Limited and Pure Dale Ceylon Company Ltd this morning (3) provided snacks and refreshments for all those participating in the final timing rehearsal of the 74th National Independence Day celebration, scheduled on Friday (4).

As Mrs Sujeewa Nelson joined distributing those snack packs and refreshment sachets, General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army who just finished attending to final touches of the parade took time off to arrive there and spoke to a cross section of tri service troops, women soldiers, Civil Security Department and National Cadet Corps, students and artistes who were by then enjoying ASVU-distributed snacks and refreshments. Both General Shavendra Silva and Mrs Sujeewa Nelson freely spoke to them and shared a couple thoughts on the conduct of this mammoth national spectacle.

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at the Army HQ, concerned about welfare aspects of tri service troops, Police, Special Task Force, Civil Security Department, National Cadet Corps personnel and all others participating in the rehearsals of the 74th National Independence Day celebrations launched this project to distribute snacks and refreshment sachets on 29 January as an ASVU project with the coordination, made by the Army Chief through the patronage, given by both Sunquick Lanka Private Limited and Pure Dale Ceylon Company Ltd.

Few senior officers, including Brigadier Thushara Balasooriya, Brigadier Coordination at the ASVU were associated with these arrangements in the past few days.
