 The Army Seva Vanitha Unit Marks First Working Day

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) marked the first working day in the New Year in a brief ceremony, headed by Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, ASVU, together with staff on Monday (3) at the ASVU office at the Army Headquarters.

Brigadier Thushara Balasooriya, Brigadier Coordination of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit welcomed the ASVU President on arrival with all attending members before the day's proceedings got to a start with traditional religious observances and observance of one-minute silence to remember fallen war heroes.

Subsequently, Brigadier Thushara Balasooriya addressed the gathering and extended best wishes for the New Year on behalf of the President, ASVU before gift parcels were distributed among all participants as gestures of goodwill and festive season. All joined a tea table, filled with traditional sweetmeats afterwards and shared greetings before the work began in the ASVU premises. 

Senior military Officers, Other Ranks and Civil staff were also present at the venue. The programme was held strictly in compliance with the COVID 19 Health guidelines.
