 Lion Ladies Gift ASVU with Sewing Machines & Wheelchairs

To be on par with the second segment of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU)-organized commemoration of the International Women's Day at the Army HQ on Thursday (12), a stock of eight electric sewing machines and two wheelchairs were donated to Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, ASVU respectively for distribution among families of War Heroes and injured War Heroes in the presence of a large gathering.

Lion Ladies of the Lions Club of District 306 C and 306 C/1 representatives led by Governor Mahinda Perera under the project, 'Diriya Kathata Athwelak' donated those accessories to the value of about Rs 2.5 lakhs on the occasion for distribution among the deserving. Governor Mahinda Perera addressed the gathering at the same occasion and appreciated the roles of the ASVU.

After the meeting, Lions Club delegation, together with Mrs Nelson paid a courtesy call on Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.
