 Army Woman Corporal Felicitated in ITN Women’s Day Project

The multi-talented Corporal J.C.I Nishanthi of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) who is also serving in the SLAWC Seva Vanitha Unit in the ITN-featured ‘Liyawaruna - 2020’ programme at Independence Square on International Women’s Day (8 March) received accolades as one of the ‘courageous women who won the world’, considering her exceptional achievements during 2009 - 2019.

In 2019, she won the 2nd place at the new innovations competition, held in South Korea competing with 38 countries.

In 2017 she won the 3rd place at the world’s new innovations competition after she produced the echo friendly plate using arecanut leaves.

During the International Olympic culinary championship in 2013 at BMICH she secured the 3rd place in culinary preparations. 

She broke the record, held by Dr Pubilis Silva producing 53 recipes from jackfruit and 54 recipes from coconuts.
