 SLAC Ladies Join Reforestation Project at Wilpattu

Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Seva Vanitha Unit (SLAC-SVU) members joined the ‘Thuruliya Wenuwen Api' reforestation project, initiated by the Sri Lanka Army at Wilpattu Forest Reserve area. The Chairperson of the SLAC-Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs Sheromi Liyanage and other members symbolically planted a few saplings around the Marichchakaddi area and handed over 300 environment-friendly saplings of rare species, such as Kumbuk, Mee, Magosa, Mahogany, etc to be planted in the Wilpattu Forest Reserve.
All participants were warmly welcomed by Major General Senerath Bandara, General Officer Commanding 54 Division upon their arrival.
During the programme, Mrs Sheromi Liyanage agreed to assist improvement for the irrigation system for the plantation. General Officer Commanding 54 Division, Commander 541 Brigade, Commanding Officers and a few other officers were also among participants in the event.
