2019-01-10 13:11:41

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) marked the dawn of the first working day in the New Year with a brief ceremony, headed by Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, President, ASVU, together with executive members  of  all regimental Seva Vanitha Units on Saturday(5) at the ASVU  auditorium.

The ASVU Secretary  welcomed the ASVU President on arrival and sat for a group photograph with all attending members before the day's proceedings got to a start with lighting of  the traditional oil lamp and observance of one-minute silence to remember fallen war heroes.

Subsequently, the ASVU Chairperson addressed the gathering and extended best wishes for the New Year before gift parcels were distributed among all participants as gestures of goodwill and festive season. All joined a tea table, filled with traditional sweetmeats afterwards and shared greetings before the work began in the ASVU premises.
