 ASVU Pre-School Teachers Undergo ‘Attitude’ Training

A two-day long resident workshop for teachers working at Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) - managed pre-schools got underway at Manning town pre-school auditorium during 29 - 30 December 2018. 

The workshop, meant to improve attitudes, approaches and skills of teachers and staffers serving both pre-schools and daycare centres was inaugurated on Saturday (29) by Mrs Chandirka Senanayake, Precedent of ASVU as the Chief Guest. 

After a brief address to the occasion, the Chief Guest discussed different matters of concern to all of them during duties before the workshop sessions began.    

On the same occasion, three teachers going on retirement were awarded special mementos after they were entertained to refreshments. 

Mr Mahinda Kodithuwakku, Director In-charge of Pre-schools in the Western Province, Ms Kumudumali De Silva, Directress, Department of Early Childhood Development & Primary Education, Ms Malani Munasinghe, Dean, Department of Early Childhood Development & Primary Education of the Open University and Ms Malani Maldeniya, Former Assistant Directress, Department of Early Childhood Development & Primary Education Western Province provided lectures to the sessions on both days.

Mrs Thanuja Dias, Senior ASVU Member responsible for Pre-school Projects, Mrs Maneesha Yamini Vidyananda, Senior member In-charge of Manning town pre-school and Lieutenant Colonel D. I. A Perera, Staff Officer I at the ASVU also participated in the inaugural event.

Those workshop attendees also received practical guidance for production of different aesthetic features for the benefit of pre-school kids.
