 ASVU Feeds Inmates at Mulleriyawa for Christmas

The annual Christmas feast at the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU)-managed Ward No 6 at the National Institute of Mental Health, Sri Lanka (NIMH) at Mulleriyawa got underway on Saturday (8) with the initiatives organized by the ASVU.

Mrs. Chandrika Senanayake, President, ASVU graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was coloured with a musical session, presented by ‘Selesco’ band of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps.  During this event,  the ASVU gave away gift parcels to patients, 24 chairs, 4 tables, ready-made garments for inmates and Dr. Kalpila Wickaramanayake, Director, NIMH, Dr. Janaka Weeragalla, Chief Medical Officer at Mulleriyawa Hospital accepted those donations.

Mrs Manori Caldera, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Army Service Corps Seva Vanitha Unit (SLASC SVU) and several ward inmates welcomed the day's Chief Guest. A brief welcome address delivered by the Matron, Mrs Pramila Sri Kanthi of the Ward No 6 set off the proceedings for the Christmas feast.

Further, Sri Lanka Service Corps Seva Vanitha Unit on that day provided lunch and tea to the inmates. SVU members went to some of the inmates and fed them. Staff Officer 1 at ASVU office, Army Officers Including Lady officers and Other Ranks attended this event.
