 New Accommodation Facility for SLSC War Heroes Opened

A newly-constructed accommodation facility for differently able War Heroes of Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) at the Regimental Centre at Panagoda was recently opened during a brief ceremony.

Mrs Nayana De Silva, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) as the Chief Guest together with Mrs Shirani Ambanpola, ASVU Secretary and Mrs Sharanki Dias, Assistant Secretary, ASVU attended the occasion.

In parallel with the opening, the ‘Aarya’ foundation donated a set of household items, including washing machines, computers, a LED TV for the use of those War Heroes.

On the same occasion, artificial limbs and white canes for two visually-impaired War Heroes and an amputated War Hero were donated at the same occasion after inviting them.

Towards the end of the programme, Prof. Ariyaratne Kaluarachchi, Vice Chancellor, University of Visual and Performing Arts delivered a brief speech to the occasion, giving moral support to the War Heroes present.

Mrs Kumari Rowel, Chairperson, SLSC Seva Vanitha Unit presented a memento to the visiting Mrs Nayana De Silva in appreciation of her participation at the event.
