RVAPL conducted the annual Inter Factory Cricket and Tug of War competitions at the Urban Council ground at Gampaha on 03 August, 2019 (Saturday) under the guidance and instructions of Major Genaral Manjula Manatunga, Commandant – RVAPL.
RVAPL Annual Cricket Tournament was organized and conducted under three different categories as differently able, able and women. Differently able and able teams of RVAPL Yakkala emerged as champions in the finals; defeating their Alawwa Factory counterparts’. Women cricketer of Alawwa Factory won the women’s championship trophy defeating their Yakkala Factory counterparts.
All three teams of RVAPL Alawwa chose to bat first after winning toss at the RVAPL at Urban Council ground in Gampaha.
However, differently able and able teams of RVAPL Alawwa became the runners-up, and Yakkala women cricket team became the runners-up.
Meanwhile, the Inter Factory Men's and Women's Tug of War Tournament kicked off on the same day at the same venue on the directions of the, Commandant – RVAPL . Men's category was divided as heavy and light, both won by RVAPL Yakkala. Women's category also won by RVAPL Yakkala team.
Mayor of Gampaha, Mr Eranga Senanayake together with Major General Manjula Manathunga Commandant –RVAPL came as the Chief Guest of the event, on arrival at the main entrance to the ground was warmly received by Brigadier Kapila Ranaweera, Deputy Commandant, of Ranaviru Apparel, in the company of several other Senior Officers including Factory Managers.
Commandant – RVAPL, Deputy Commandant and other several key appointment holders including Factory Managers of both Factories joined the presentation of trophies and certificates among the winners. This kind of events is highly essential to enhance the uplift the moral of soldiers in both factories.
