RANAVIRU APPAREL TROOPS BID FAREWELL TO OUTGOING COMMANDANT
Officers and Other Ranks of Ranaviru Apparel (RVAPL) both Factories bid farewell to Brigadier Senaka Dassanayake upon his relinquishment of the appointment of Commandant, Ranaviru Apparel during a simple ceremony held at RVAPL Factory at Yakkakla on last Friday (18 January).

Brigadier Senaka Dassanayake has joined to the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army on 21 March 1985 as an Officer Cadet with SLMA Intake SSC - 5 and has been commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 09 February 1986 in the Sri Lanka Army Ordinance Corps. He was a distinguished past product of Richman College in Galle. However he was awarded with USP for the distinguish & noble service in the Army.

Yakkala Officers together with Alawwa factory Officers arranged a farewell dinner on 17th January 2019 for the outgoing commandant while Warrant Officers and Sergeant Mess arranged a farewell dinner on 14th January 2019.

Simultaneously, outgoing commandant was welcomed and honoured with All Rank tea which held at Corporals’ Club on 17th January . Commandant took time off to exchange few words with the Officers and Other Ranks in attendance while having a cup of tea. Subsequently, he was honoured with mementos in appreciation of his illustrious services to the Ranaviru Apparel .

The final farewell ceremony commenced on Friday (18 January 2019) at the Yakkala camp premises with series of military formalities in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment. A colourful Guard Turn Out was accorded to the outgoing Commandant on arrival to the venue by the troops of Light Infantry. He was received and welcomed by Brigadier Kapila Ranaweera, the Deputy Commandant of Ranaviru Apparel. After that he planted a Guava sapling at the factory premises as per the day’s progarmme.

Minutes after the Guard Turnout addressing the troops, Brigadier Senaka Dasanayeke, Commandant thanked all officers and other ranks for the support given to him during his tenure as the Commandant.

The day’s proceedings reached the culmination with the departure of Brigadier Senaka Dasanayake USP from the Ranaviru Apparel Camp premises.
