A delegation from South Sudan headed by Lt Gen Thoi Chany Reat, Assistant Chief for Administration Personnel and Finance of South Sudan Army, now in Sri Lanka after attending the ‘Colombo Defence Seminar - 2018’ (CDS) at BMICH, organized by the Sri Lanka Army on the theme, ‘Security in an Era of Global Disruptions’ visited Ranaviru Apparel (RVAPL) at Yakkala on 02 September to discuss and learn about ‘Ranaviru Apparel’ Rehabilitation project. However, object of their visit was to launch a similar rehabilitation project in the South Sudan in order to employ gainfully their Army’s disable soldiers as Ranviru apparel of Sri Lanka Army.

On behalf of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana Chairman of Board of Management of RVAP and Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Sri Lanka Army the Commandant of RVAPL, Brigadier Senaka Dassanayake together with Deputy Commandant, at the entrance to the Factory warmly welcomed the visiting Army delegation before they accompanied to the Factory.

The Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Factory Manger of Yakkala, Human Resource Manager, Work-study Manger, Senior Production Manager and Production Line Managers, who are responsible for smooth function of factory explained the organization and different areas of production process to the visiting delegation during the Factory visit.

The Commandant explained that the RVAPL was established on 23rd August 1997 and production commenced with 25 machines and 90 disabled soldiers in an accommodation building of other ranks with the vision of adding value and significance to the life of our soldiers and eneble them to become useful citizens and role models to the society.

Speaking further about the concept the Commandant elaborated that this factory was formed as a self- financing rehabilitation project under the Army to keep occupied in gainful employment, part of the young disabled Officers and ORs enabling them for a dignified living.

During their stay at the Factory Lt Gen Thoi Chany Reat, shared views with the Commandant and other senior officers engaged with the production works and express his sincere gratitude and satisfaction over the smooth production process and quality of the production.

Towards the end of the day’s proceedings, delegation head Lt Gen Thoi Chany Reat placed his signature in the Visitors’ book as a memory of his visit to RVAPL.
