RANAVIRU APPAREL TROOPS BID FAREWELL TO OUTGOING COMMANDANT
Officers and Other Ranks of Ranaviru Apparel (RVAPL) both Factories bid farewell to Major General Shantha Rajakaruna upon his relinquishment of the appointment of Commandant, Ranaviru Apparel during a simple ceremony held at RVAPL Factory at Yakkala on last Tuesday (27 October ).

Major General Shantha Rajakaruna USP was joining with Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 2nd April 1986. He was received basic training at Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy with intake 4. After completion of successful training, he was commissioned on 17thJune 1988 and he was posted to prestigious 4th battalion of the Gemunu Watch. However he was awarded with USP for the distinguished & noble service in the Army.

The farewell ceremony commenced on Tuesday (27 October 2020) at the Yakkala camp premises with series of military formalities in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment. A colorful Guard Turn Out was accorded to the outgoing Commandant on arrival to the venue by the troops of Sri Lanka Army National Guard. He was received and welcomed by Colonel Amila Wasage, Deputy Commandant -RVAPL.

After the Guard Turnout the outgoing Commandant planted a Mango sapling in the camp premises for the memory of occasion.

The Outgoing commandant Major General Shanatha Rajakaruna, addressing the troops and thanked all officers and other ranks for the support given to him during his tenure as the Commandant. Subsequently, he was honored with mementos in appreciation of his illustrious services to the Ranaviru Apparel.

The day’s proceedings reached the culmination with the departure of Major General Shanatha Rajakaruna from the Ranaviru Apparel Camp premises.
