Buddhists live around the worldwide observe Buddha Purnima, And here IPSOTSL observed Vesak Full Moon Poya Day on Friday (05) to commemorate three most significant events in the life of Siddhartha Gautama, his birth, enlightenment, and passing away to nirwana.

Commemorating the Vesak Week organized, with the guidance and direction of Brigadier C A Rajapaksha RSP the Commandant of IPSOTSL to accomplish the vision of the Commander of the Army. The Commandant together with a gathering of Senior Officers switched on lighting and inaugurated the IPSOTSL’s Vesak Zone on Thursday (04) evening.

Moreover, IPSOTSL celebrated Vesak by conducting religious ceremonies and organizing various Aamisa and Prathipaththi poojas, including Shramadana Campaigns in temples around the camp, Renovation of the camp temple, Showcasing of lanterns, Preaching of dhamma sermon and Bodhi puja.

In addition, IPSOTSL organized a 'Dansala' for distributing herbal tea with jaggery and biscuits among Vesak sight-seers on the Vesak full moon poya day. Vesak Zone will be held from Tuesday (02) to Monday (08) for the villages to bring an enthralling spiritual joy. With the guidance and directions of the Commandant, Chief Instructor, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks committed themselves in organizing these programmes and a large number of civilians witnessed the inauguration and visited the IPSOTSL Vesak zone.
