  FORCE PROTECTION COMPANY PRE-DEPLOYMENT TRAINING COURSE LEBANON (UNIFIL – 13)
 

Force Protection Company Pre Deployment Training Course Lebanon (UNIFIL–13) was commenced on 07 June 2021 and successfully completed on 26 July 2021. The course consisted with 228 students (20x Sri Lanka Army Officers, 03x Air Force Officers and 205 x ORs) representing various regiments.

Originally the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was created by the Security Council in March 1978 to confirm Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, re-establish international peace and security and assist the Lebanese government in restoring its effective authority in the area. The mandate had to be adjusted twice, due to the developments in 1982 and 2000.

The course has changed and made over to provide the required knowledge on practical and theoretical aspects of United Nations. The main objective of this training capsule is to offer a brief awareness about the above said themes collateral with the UN mandate and perform their duties to monitor the cessation of hostilities, accompany and support the Lebanese armed forces as they deploy throughout the south of Lebanon and extend its assistance to facilitate and ensure humanitarian access to civilian populations and the voluntary and safe return of displaced persons.
