The Director General Overseas Operations, Major General WASS Wanasinghe RSP USP ndu made his official visit to the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka on 12 August 2020 as part of his familiarization visits. On arrival at the Institute, the Director General Overseas Operations, was honoured ceremonially and received by the Commandant, Brigadier RADS Shantha Ranaweera RWP RSP USP psc.

A brief presentation on training, administrative, operational and logistics aspects of the Institute was conducted by the Commandant. Aftermath, the Director General Overseas Operations planted a sapling to mark his visit to the Institute.

Thereupon, the newly-constructed cafeteria, the ‘Peace Cafe’ for All Ranks at Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka, was declared open by the Director General Overseas Operations. All the materials utilized for the constructions were made available through local resources whilst the manpower was contributed by all the Officers and Other Ranks of the Institute. The Director General Overseas Operations Training Sri Lanka, on the arrival at the entrance to the cafeteria unveiled a plaque to symbolize the official opening and joined with All Ranks for refreshments.

In the wake of the inauguration of cafeteria, troops address was held. During his addressing, he emphasized the importance of performing assigned duties with dedication and commitment and promotion of their professional skills through the constant training as soldiers in ligned with peacekeeping. Then he paid a visit around the camp premises and it was followed by a lunch at the Officers’ Mess. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Institute and few other Senior Officers of Directorate of Overseas Operations also witnessed the event.
