The Gemunu Watch Inter Battalion Volleyball Tournament - 2023 got underway at the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch Lt Col W Wimaladasa indoor stadium during 03 - 11February.Under the direction and guidance of the Chairmen of Gemunu Watch Volleyball committee Brig C A Rajapakse RSP and vice chairmen Lt Col P M M T Pathiraja RWP RSP and close supervision of the Sport officer of The Gemunu Watch Maj G K S T Pushpakumara RWP RSP.
The tournament has been designed in order to upgrade sports skills of soldiers and select best volleyball players out of from the battalion level. Moreover 175 players from 19 teams competed in the tournament on knockout system. 09 GW team won the Championship by beating 18 GW team in the final tussle to become Champions in the Gemunu Watch Inter Battalion Volleyball Tournament 2023 .
The Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch Major General AC Lamahewa WWV RWP RSP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. GOC 14 Division Maj Gen J M R N K Jayamanna RWP, Center Commandant Brig W B J K Wimalaratne RWP RSP. Council members, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of Regimental Center and Battalions watched the finals, held on Saturday (11) evening and took part in the awarding ceremony.
