NEW DGGS ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP VSV USP ndu assumed duties on 20th Nov 19 as the new Director General General Staff (DGGS) at the army headquarters.

Religious observances of major dominations (Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic and Catholic) blessed at the new office before he formally signified the acceptance of the new appointment after placing his signature for a formal document.

Major General Nilantha Hettiarachchi, Chief Signal Officer, Major General Shantha Hewawitharana, Director Military Intelligence, Directors and Senior Officers under command to the DGGS Branch were present during the occasion.

Major Gep T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP VSV USP ndu is a proud product of the St Benedict College Kotahena. He joined the Sri Lanka Army on 01 October 1985 with Intake SSC 7 and was trained at Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa and commissioned on 31 May 1986 and posted to 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch.

He has held many comd appointments varying from Platoon Commander, Company Commander and Second in Command of 12th Battalion the Gemunu Watch and Commanded the of 9th and st Battalion the Gemunu Watch.

He has held many Comd, Staff and Instr appointments in various formations and army headquarters. Some of the key appointments are; GSO 3 - Dte of Trg, Squadron Comd- KDA, GSO 1 - OCC, SO 1 (A) - RHQ GW, CO- ATS, Comdt - CTS (AMP), Instr - IPSOTSL, Comdt - ATS (M-Oya), Comdt - NCO Trg Sch, Comd - 211 Bde, Comd - 583 Bde, Dy GOC - 58 Div, Director - Dte of Rec, GOC - 57 Div, Comdt ITC and DG Trg AHQ.

Further, Major Gen T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP VSV USP ndu has followed many training courses both local and abroad in his military career. He is a graduate from National Defence University, China.

Maj Gen T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP VSV USP ndu was decorated with Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) and Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) for his exceptional unique performances, velour and bravery that he displayed in the face of enemy during operations and also a recipient of Vishista Sewa Vibhushanaya (VSV) and Uttama Seva Padakkama (USP) for his unblemished military career in the Army.

Major Gen T S Bangsajayah’s beloved wife Mrs. Hashamareer Bangsajayah, the President of the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch, family members, Senior Officers, Staff Officers of the Regimental Centre and other‘ranks of the Gemunu Watch extend their well wishes to the new DGGS of Sri Lanka Army, Major General T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP VSV USP ndu.
