Long distance Sri Lanka Army runner Rusiru Chathuranga (S/432595 L/Cpl Chathuranga GR of 6GW), was inaugurated to make one of the most convincing victory in Sri Lankan Army Athletic History who vie in the 800m and 1500m events during the Vietnam Open Athletic Championship.
Rusiru Chathuranga won a silver medal in the 800m and a bronze in the 1500m at the meet concluded on 27 July (Friday) in Vietnam. Chathuranga clocked a personal best of 1 minute 49.83 seconds in the 800m heats but failed in the final clocking just 1 minute 52.0 seconds to finish second.
