HIGHLANDER OFFICERS TRAINING DAY OF THE GEMUNU WATCH - 2018

Officers Training Day of the Gemunu Watch is intended to improve the Officers’ knowledge on Military and Non Military subjects which presumed as inevitable to enhance the professionalism of the officers. For this endeavor the assistance of the Academic and Intellectuals is significant. The first session of Training Day of the year was held on 27 April 2018 at the Regimental Centre with the participation of Senior and Middle grade officers.

The Deputy Centre Commandant was welcomed all Senior Officers, Officers and all Guest Speakers on behalf of the Col of the Regiment and he explained the importance and the valve of the event of this nature as an important and special event in the Regimental event calendar.

The training day programme was unfolded as per the following sequence.

     Nuclear Complexities in South Asia (Diners Club Session) - Mr. Sanath De Silva

Presentation on Time Management was conducted by Lt Col Nalaka Malsinghe who is serving as the CI - OCDC.The Regiment Centre was arranged this event as per the intent of the Commander of the Army to groom up officers while sharing their knowledge and experience with their subordinates. Training has no end in military carrier; it is a continuous process throughout, Training as best welfare one can give and gain in military will mold officer’s discipline, character and commitment, and pursuit excellence in their performance. It contributes to developed and groomed well- rounded group of officers to take up the challenges of any nature in times to come.

During the Diners Club session, Mr. Sanath De Silva was graced the event as visiting lecture and conducted a presentation on Nuclear Complexities in South Asia. He was welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant on behalf of the Col of the Regiment and for all Officers. Mr Sanath De Silva was a senior lecturer in kotelawala Defence University and specialized for International Relations.

The Officers Training day was undoubtedly an important event to all officers and it could able to get the peak of success due to the fervent guidance of Colonel of the Regiment Major General W B D P Fernando RWP RSP USP psc. As well as the General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division, Major General K P A Jayasekara WWV RSP USP psc. Was a head gear to lead the event and the great contribution extended throughout and his interest paved towards the event, in order to groomed up our officers but coudnt attend to grace the event due to commitment of duty. After completion of the training day, the commandant thanked to all participants and conveyed his kind regards to all.
