FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR NEWLY APPOINTED CHIEF OF STAFF

The newly appointed Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP psc has marked his maiden visit to the Regimental Centre, the Gemunu Watch on 04th April 2018 after assumed duties as 52nd Chief of Staff of the Sri Lank Army, he is also the 7th Chief of Staff, produced by the Gemunu Watch since it’s inception.

The Centre commandant warmly welcomed the Chief of Staff and Colonel of the Regiment, Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP psc and invited to review the Guard turnout at the main entrance and accompanied to take the salute of the Gemunu Watch Guard of Honour. Then, planting of sapling closer to main gate took place followed ceremonial commemoration of fallen war heroes at the monument abiding by the customs and traditions of the Gemunu Watch. Subsequently, group photograph was taken including all the officers of the Gemunu Watch with new Chief of Staff.

The Officers and Other Ranks got an opportunity of interacting with the Chief of Staff during All Ranks tea arrange at the Other Rank’s Mess of the Regimental Centre and the Chief of Staff also shared his thought with troops. A memento prepared by All Ranks of the Gemunu Watch was presented to the Chief of Staff by General Officer Commanding 22 Division, Major General KPA Jayasekera WWV RSP USP ndc psc.

Then, the Officers and Other Ranks were addressed by the Chief of staff and he was extended his sincere gratitude to all past and present senior officers, other officers and men of the Gemunu Watch for paving way for his today’s success which was filled with many moments of hardships, challenging and happy events as well. Senior Officers, Junior Officers and Other Ranks of the Gemunu Watch were present to extend their best wishes to new Chief of Staff.

Then, the Chief of staff attend to the lunch arrange at the Officer’s Mess and all officers were present to there with the Chief of Staff as the last event of the day.
