THE COMMANDER OF THE ARMY MAIDEN VISITS TO THE REGIMENTAL CENTRE, THE GEMUNU WATCH

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP USP USACGSC has marked his maiden visit to the Regimental Centre, the Gemunu Watch on 21 March 2018.

Colonel of the Regiment, Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP warmly welcomed the Commander of the Army and invited to review the Guard turnout at the entrance and accompanied to take the salute of the Gemunu Watch Guard of Honour. Then, planting of sapling and ceremonial commemoration of fallen war heroes at the monument were taken place to make the event more colourful and traditional.

The fully air conditioned and furnished Other Rank’s Mess was declared open by the Commander of the Army and a newly constructed two-storied Other Rank’s accommodation block which has the capacity of accommodating 120 troops was declared open subsequently.

The Officers and Other Ranks of the Gemunu Watch got an opportunity of interacting with the Commander of the Army during the All Rank tea arrange at the Swimming pool site of the Regimental Centre and the Commander to shared his thought with the Gemunu Watch troops.

Then, the Officers and Other Ranks of the Gemunu Watch were addressed by the Commander of the Army and it was emphasize “ How the future Army should continue as defender of the nation”. A memento prepared by all ranks of the Regimental Centre was presented to the Chief Gust by Colonel of the Regiment Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP.

Then, the Chief Gust was accompanied to the lunch arrange at the Officer’s Mess and all officers were present to the lunch with the Chief Gust. A special memento was presented to the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP USP USACGSC by Colonel of the Regiment, Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP psc at the end of the visit.
