The Inter Battalions Karate Championship - 2018 of the Gemunu Watch was held at the Regimental Centre on 28 Feburary 2018 with the participation of senior officers and CO’s and Battalion representatives. The event was organized under guidance and supervision of Colonel of the Regiment, Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP psc. In the absence of Col of the Regt due to unavoidable circumstances, Brig W H M Manatunga graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Generating glimmers of new hopes to the field of Karate, more than 60 competitors were participated for this event. 12 GW shown their telents and fighting sprite brilliantly securing the first place with 18 points while 9 GW and 4 GW became second and third in the championship scoring 10 and 6 points respectively.
Chief Gust awarded trophies and the medals to the winners who excelled in different weight groups of Karate competition at the termination of then event .The Chief Gust addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of individual sports event as Karate for physical and moral development of soldiers, further he stressed the importance of knowing an art of a self defence as a soldier who need to serve without fire arms is situational a mode of operendi. Chief Gust and Chairman of Karate committee wisheses all winners at the end of the programme.

4th Place - 15 (V) Battalion the Gemunu Watch - 5 Marks
