Officers Training Day of the Gemunu Watch is intended to improve the Officers knowledge on Military and Non Military subjects which presumed as inevitable to enhance the professionalism of the officers. For this endeavor the assistance of the academic and intellectuals is significant. The second session of Training Day of the year was held on 23 Dec 2017 at the Regimental Headquarters premises with the participation of approximately 80 senior and middle grade officers.
The Regiment Headquarters was arranged this event as per the intent of the Commander of the Army to groom up officers while sharing their knowledge and experience with their subordinates. Training has no end in military carrier, it is a continuous process throughout, Training as best welfare one can give and gain in military, will mold officerâs discipline, character and commitment, and pursuit excellence in their performance. Its contributes to developed and groomed well- rounded group of officers to take up the challenges of any nature in times to come.
The Deputy Centre Commandant welcomed all Senior Officers, Officers and all Guest Speaker on behalf of the Col of the Regiment and he explained the importance and the valve of the event of this nature as an main event in the Regimental event calendar.
The training was unfolded according to the following sequence:
Muster & PT Drill (Capt & below) Prevention of Non Communicable Diseases & How to avoid Non Communicable Diseases - Guest Lec by Maj R P M Prasanga SLAMC (Doctor), Lt A C K Udugama CGSC (Dietitian) Sri Lanka Army, working at Army Hospital) Colombo.
Prevention of Drugs by Lt Prasanna Samarakoon CGSC (Psychologist- Sri Lanka Army, working at Army Hospital)
Presentation 1 - North Korea Issue in South Asia by 14 (V) GW
Presentation 2 - China in South Asia by 7 GW
Diners Club session - Geo politics in South Asia and its external players - Mr. George I H Cook
During the Diners Club session, Mr. George I H Cook was grace the event. The visiting lecturer conducted a lecture on Geo politics in South Asia and its external player. He was welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant on behalf of the Col of the Regiment and for all Officers. Mr. George I H Cook was able to widen the horizon of all the officers on that particular subject with his wealth of knowledge and question and answer session was very interactive and educative. Guest lecturer and all officers those who participated for the event dismissed after having the dinner arrange at the Officers Mess GW.
