GOWRI TO ENTER COLLEGE OF EDUCATION GETS GIFTS FROM ARMY
Commanding Officer and a few soldiers of the 23rd Gemunu Watch (23 GW) visited the house of Sivanesathevari Gawri at Alippalai on Saturday 17th with a pack of essentials and a cash gift needed to continue her further education.
Gowri was selected to National College of Education, Polgolla to follow a professional training course which will qualify her to become a teacher. However, her family could not afford to buy some basic items she would need.
Lieutenant Colonel L.G.B. Kariyawasam, Commanding Officer of the 23 GW and all ranks coming forward to assist the girl purchased some items such as mosquito nets, umbrella, shoes, sarees, books and stationery to be taken to the College. They also handed over Rs. 1000/= to Gowei to cover minor expenses.
