CPL THUSHARA KUMARA RECEIVES A GIFT OF A NEW HOUSE FROM THE GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA UNIT
A war Hero Corporal Thushara Kumara RPR of the1st Battalion of the Gemunu Watch was disabled while fighting Tamil Militancy in Jaffna.
He got married recently and was gifted a new house on the day of their ‘Home-coming’. This house was sponsored by the “Lt General Denzil Kobbekaduwa Foundation†and also with the financial assistance provided by the Central Finance Company.
Labour and construction support for this venture was provided by the 1 GW Soldiers under the supervision of Mrs Rukmani Mark, Chairperson GW Seva Vanitha Unit and Mrs Upamalee Kulasekara.
The Handing-over ceremony was organized to coincide with the Home-coming ceremony of the newly wedded couple.
Mrs Lali Kobbakaduwa (President of the Lt Gen Denzil Kobbekaduwa Foundation) was the Guest of Honour and vested the House with the Hero and his Bride.
Mrs Rukmani Mark, Mrs Chintha Udumalagala, members of GW Seva Vanitha Unit, Centre Commandant of the GW Regimental Centre, Senior Army Officers and Other ranks were presented at the ceremony.
The parents of the Bride and Groom, their relatives and friends attended both ceremonies.
