This year the celebration of Vesak Day, organized by Regimental Headquarters of Gemunu Watch was held at the Kuruwita Camp on 10 to 14 May 2017 . The activities of this four(4) day event include; Sil programme, Dharma Deshana, Bodhipuja, Rice Dansal and a colourful display of Vesak Lanterns.
Most venewable Madirigiriye Shantha Kiththi Thera conducted a whole day Atasil programme and delivered Dharma Deshana to well over 50 devotees .In addition to observing Atasil they participated in religions Dhamma secession, Meditation session, and Mal-Pahan and Bodhipuja ceremonies.
The Centre Commandant , the Chief Guest inaugurated the evening programme by lighting the Vesak Lanterns. Those colourful displays of various shapes and sized were created on the themes representing the life of Load Buddha.
Regimental Headquarters of the Gemunu Watch also welcomed over 1500 local and visiting lay people to its Rice Dansal held at its vehicle parking.
