TROOPS OF THE GEMUNU WATCH HANDOVER NEWLY RENOVATED SCHOOL BUILDING AT R/ KALAWANA MODEL PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN EDUCATION
Under the instruction of the Commander of the Army, troops of the Gemunu Watch newly renovated the main building at R/ Kalawana Model Primary School symbolically handed over to school children by the Commander Security Force Headquarters (Centre) and Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu during a brief ceremony at 0900 hrs on Thursday ( 05) May 2017. The Colonel of the Regiment opened newly renovated building while ‘Seth Pirith’ chanted by Maha Sangha Ven Kukulu Nawadun Dekoorale Adikarana Sanganayake , Kukulegama Sumana Nayake Thero .
The newly renovated building is the main building of the school and as the first time it was renovated after 50 years since, it was built in 1957. The guidance, direction, necessary instructions of the Colonel of the Regiment and close supervision of the Centre Commandant of the Regiment Centre troops of the Gemunu Watch renovated and rebuilt the existing dilapidated school building within a few weeks. Nearly 7 lakh was extended by Regimental Centre for the constructions work during the period and also skillful human resource provide by the Gemunu Regiment – KURUWITA.
Graced by the occasion the Centre Commandant , Deputy Commandant of the Regiment Centre, Mr Premasiri - Manager of Teacher Training Centre , Educational Zone – Kalawana, Mr. Anura Gamarachchi Principal of the R/ Kalawana Model Primary School and also Officers and Other Rankers of the Regiment, School Children and their parents, Villagers were participated.
