TAKING OVER DUTIES AS THE COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE 8TH BATTALION THE GEMUNU WATCH

Major HMR Hennayake RSP USP assumed duties as the 17th Commanding Officer 8th Battalion the Gemunu Watch on 29 August 2022. A brief ceremony was held which included Religious observances and Troops Address in accordance with the health protocol and guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Army Headquarters.

Major HMR Hennayake RSP USP was joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet of Sri Lanka Military Academy with Intake 50 on 06th July 1999. Upon completion of successful military training, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 30th June 2001 and was posted to 6th battalion the gemunu watch.

During his illustrious military career he rendered his service in various command, Instructor, and staff appointments and performed effectively, serving in almost all operational areas of the country, as a platoon commander and Company Commander in 6GW, He is known as a good sports person and redered his service as the Sports Officer of Gemunu Watch Regiment. Furthermore he served as the 2nd in Command in 6th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch.

All Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment Centre extended their warm wishes to newly appointed Commanding officer and wished him for a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and prosperous life.
