Major General Chaminda Lamahewa of the Gemunu Watch assumed office as the 22nd Director General Infantry at Directorate of Infantry at the Army Headquarters on Thursday (04) during a brief ceremony.
After brief religious observances, the newly-appointed Director General Infantry left his signature in an official document, signifying the acceptance of his new office. Prior to this new appointment, he served as the Director General General Staff at Office of the Chief of Defence Staff.
Staff Officers in the Directorate and Other Ranks joined the occasion. He succeeds Major General Dammi Hewage who has just retired from the Army.
