The Minipura Nada - 2017 Carnival and Trade Fair of the Gemunu Watch, Army show and the educational exhibition was declared open on 08 December 2017 by General Officer Commanding,54 Division, Major General GJAW Galagamage amidst religious observances at the Play ground of the Regimental Headquarter, the Gemunu Watch , Kuruwita with large gathering. The Minipura Gemunu Nada 2017, Carnival and Trade Fair was organized by the Gemunu Watch with guidance and supervision of the Colonel of the Regiment, Gemunu Watch, Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP psc.
The event will held today and tomorrow (8 and 9 December) at the play ground, Regimental Centre. The event will held annually as fund raising event multiple for welfare projects for the betterment of officers and soldiers who KIA, wounded and MIA during three decade of ethnic conflict. In addition, those funds will be utilized for welfare projects launched by Regimental Centre and GW Battalions.During the tattoo display, Armored Cars, Artillery Guns, Dog Show, Rappelling Show, a Cultural Show, and Musical events added colours to the Carnival programme. Other than this Merigo round, 9 D cinema, Bumper car, Roller cost, Pendulum and many more events added for children. State agencies, private firms, small scale entrepreneurs, , community based organizations, youth, farmer communities, consumers and many others joined the event with their exhibitors.
The event provided the opportunity for the community to buy Sri Lankan food items, handicrafts, beverages, vegetable and clothing, health beauty products, food beverages, household products, fashion and fashion accessories, furniture, wellness and beauty culture products including food and beverages also included.General Officer Commanding 54 Division, Major General GJAW Galagamage was graced the occasion as the Chief Guest with the presence of the Centre Commandant, the Regimental Centre, General Officer Commanding 23 Division, Brigadier BVDP Abeynayake USP ndu , many senior officers, Staff Officers at the Regimental Centre and other ranks of the Gemunu Regiment. The Carnival will be continued till midnight of 09 December 2017 and expected huge participate from the civilians.
