The Gemunu watch inter Battalion Athletic Meet 2015, a Major event in the Gemunu watch sports calendar, was ceremonially held on 15th and 16th of October 2015 at the Mahinda Rajapasha Stadium, Diyagama. The main intend of the event was to uplift the skills of sportsmen and selection of new athletes to the regiment athletic team. Over 750 GW sportsmen participated for all track and field events in Inter Battalion Athletics Meet 2015.
Parallel to the Athletics Meet a felicitation ceremony was also conducted to the sportsmen who excelled in the Army inter regimental Athletics Championship, Para sport meet and other games. during the recent past.
6th Battalion the Gemunu Watch became the champions of the meet while 11th Battalion the Gemunu Watch became the runner up. S/420667 L/Cpl Asela UKD, 1 GW awarded with the best Athlete Trophy for track events (achievement 11.0 seconds for 100 m run), S/431045 Cpl Nawarathna NMUK, 11 GW was awarded as the best athlete of field events (achievement 7.00 m for long jump) and S/431045 CPL Nawarathna NMUK of 11 GW was adjudged as the best Athlete as the meet.
Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndc colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch graced the occasion as the Chief gust. All council members, CO’s of the Bn’s, other senior officers and a cross section of all ranks of the Gemunu watch participated for this ceremony.
