The Highlanders’ Officers' Get-Together – 2025 of the Gemunu Watch was proudly held on August 23, 2025, at the Laya Beach Hotel, Wadduwa, bringing together both active and retired officers in a spirit of camaraderie, tradition, and shared pride.
The event began with the graceful arrival of active officers, followed by the distinguished presence of Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment, Gemunu Watch. This set a respectful and dignified tone for the morning. Soon afterward, retired officers were warmly welcomed, creating a memorable reunion of past and present leadership that reflected the strength and unity of the regiment.
To mark this important occasion, individual photographs were taken, and moreover, some group photographs were taken, symbolizing the lasting bond between generations of Highlanders and their enduring legacy of service.
Adding energy to the gathering, the Highlanders’ Band and the Army Dancing Group captivated the audience with lively musical and cultural performances. Their artistry infused the event with color, energy, and pride.
One of the most meaningful moments was the interaction between veteran and active officers. The senior officers generously shared their rich experiences, invaluable insights, and timeless lessons from their years of dedicated service. These exchanges not only honored the regiment's history but also inspired the younger generation to uphold the values and traditions of the Gemunu Watch with renewed dedication.
The event concluded with a fellowship lunch, providing all attendees the chance to strengthen bonds, celebrate shared achievements, and look forward to the continued excellence of the regiment.
