HIGHLANDER OFFICERS TRAINING DAY OF THE GEMUNU WATCH - 2017

Officers Training Day of the Gemunu Watch is intended to improve the Officers’ knowledge on Military and Non Military subjects which presumed as inevitable to enhance the professionalism of the officers. For this endeavor the assistance of the Academic and Intellectuals is significant. The first session of Training Day of the year was held on 21 July 2017 at the Regimental Headquarters premises with the participation of Senior and Middle Grade officers. The Centre Commandant was welcomed all Senior Officers, Officers and all Guest Speakers on behalf of the Col of the Regiment and he explained the importance and the valve of the event of this nature as an annual event in the Regimental event calendar. The training was on process as per the following sequence. Muster & PT Drill (Capt & below) Awareness of Disaster Management - Guest Speakers from DMC Essence of Human Resource Management - Senior Officer from the Gemunu Watch Art of War - Senior Officer from the Gemunu Watch Regimentation Customs & Traditions Impact & Influence on Officering & Soldiering - Visiting Lecturer Few Senior Officers which were the proud product of the Gemunu Regiment conducted important lectures regarding Essence of Human Resource Management by Col Keerthi Kottawattha and the Art of War by Maj Danushka Rodrigo and it could help to brush up officers’ knowledge. The Regiment Headquarters was arranged this event as per the intent of the Commander of the Army to groom up officers while sharing their knowledge and experience with their subordinates. Training has no end in military carrier, it is a continuous process throughout, Training as best welfare one can give and gain in military, will mold officers discipline, character and commitment, and pursuit excellence in their performance. Its contributes to developed and groomed well- rounded group of officers to take up the challenges of any nature in times to come. During the Diners Club session , Brig (Retd) C S N B Mudannayake RWP USP psc was grace the event as visiting lecture and conducted a lecture topic on Regimentation Customs & Traditions Impact & Influence on Officering & Soldiering. He was welcomed by the Centre Commandant on behalf of the Col of the Regiment and for all Officers. Brig Mudannayake was a senior retired officer and he was a proud product of Sri Lanka Armored Corps Regiment. The Officers Training day was undoubtedly an important event to all officers and it could able to get the peak of success due to the fervent guidance of Colonel of the Regiment Major General W B D P Fernando RWP RSP USP psc. As well as the General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division, Major General K P A Jayasekara WWV RSP USP psc. Was a head gear to lead the event and the great contribution extended throughout and his interest paved towards the event, in order to groomed up our officers but coudnt attend to grace the event due to commitment of duty. During the completion, the commandant thanked to all participants and conveyed his kind regards to all.
