A felicitation ceremony for Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, Major General P I Pathirathne and Major General W G H A S Bandara RWP RSP ndu was held at the Regiment Centre the Gemunu Watch on the occasion of their promotion to the rank of Major General. The traditional event unfolded on 14 June 2019 at Regiment Centre, Kuruwita with the participation of a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.
Major General Kumar Jayapathirane was born on 26 Feb 1966 and completed his school education from Bandarawela Central College. He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 16 January 1986 to the Officer Cadet Intake SSC 09. After successful completion of basic military training, he was commissioned and posted to 1 GW on 20 Oct 1986. He has held many command appointments in unit line such as Platoon Commander, Company Commander, Second in Command and he Commanded 11th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch.

Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP presently holds the appointment of General Officer Commanding – 21 Division.
Major General Prasad Indunil Pathirathna was born on 12 April 1965 and completed his school education from St. John College Nugegoda . He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 17 January 1986 to the Officer Cadet Intake SSC 10. After successful completion of Basic Military Training, he was posted to 1 GW on 10 December 1986 where he marked the 1st milestone of his military career as a Platoon Commander. He has held many command appointments in unit line such as Platoon Commander, Company Commander, Second in Command and finally Commanded 1st Battalion of the Gemunu Watch.

Major General W G H A S Banadara RWP RSP ndu was born on 17 Jul 1966. He is a proud product of Vidyaratha College Kandy. After completion of his school education, he joined the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet to Intake SSC 10 on 17 January 1986. Subsequently, he was posted to 4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch after completion of basic military training on 10 December 1986. He has held many command appointments in unit line such as Platoon Commander, Company Commander and Second in Command. He Commanded 5th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch.

Major General W G H A S Banadara RWP RSP ndu presently holds the appointment of General Officer Commanding – 54 Division.
Centre Commandant, Brigadier AADNSP Dunuwila RWP RSP USP welcomed all Senoior Officers and invited to review the Guard turnout at the entrance and accompanied to receive the salute of the proud, dignified military parades. Then, the ceremonial commemoration for fallen war heroes at the monument was taken place to make the event more traditional.
All Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude to distinguished Senior Officers for their commitment and dedication to the Gemunu Watch and wished for a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and prosperous life.
Then the Senior Officers was accompanied to the lunch arranged at the Officers’ Mess. A special mementos were presented to Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, Major General P I Pathirathne and Major General W G H A S Bandara RWP RSP ndu by Colonel of the Regiment, Major General KPA Jayasekera WWV RSP USP ndc psc – Commander, Security Forces East in appreciation of their dedicated and committed service rendered to the Regiment.
