Brigadier WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP assumed duties as the 21st Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch amidst military formalities accomplished at the Regimental Headquarters premises, Kuruwita on 24 December 2021.
The day’s proceedings in connection with the assumption of duties as the Centre Commandant began with reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded in his honour. The Senior Officer was warmly received by Col AGSM Perera RWP RSP USP the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch.
The new Centre Commandant, amidst invoking blessings of religion, placed his signature on an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new appointment at the auspicious time.
Signifying his inauguration of the office as the Centre Commandant, the ceremonial commemoration for fallen war heroes at the monument was taken placed. Officers and Other Ranks of the Regimental Centre were presented to witness the same.
Marking his inaugural address, he spelt out his pleasure for the conferment of this prestigious appointment of which a circumstance is rarely deserved in the military career. Especially, The newly appointed Centre Commandant extended his compliments on the role and tasks which have voluntarily been executed by the successors of the Gemunu Watch, and saluted its predecessors who contributed to safeguard the nation in the face of different scenarios since its inception.
The programme of the day was underway with strict adherence to the health directives issued for COVID – 19.
