BOOK DONATION PROGRAMME FOR THE CHILDREN AFFECTED BY CYCLONE "DITVAH"

Under the visionary concept of the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs. Shihani Abeywardana a book donation programme was successfully conducted for the children of St. Peter’s College - Thalawila, Kalpitiya, Puttalam on 30 December 2025.

This meaningful initiative was organized to support school children who were adversely affected by Cyclone Ditvah, which caused significant disruptions to their daily lives and educational activities.

Understanding the importance of education as a foundation for recovery and future growth, the programme aimed to provide essential learning materials to help students continue their studies with renewed hope and motivation in year 2026.

The programme was made possible through the generous support of Dr. Melani Wijesooriya, who donated books and stationary items worth Rs. 300,000.00 towards this noble cause.

The Seva Vanitha Branch extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Melani Wijesooriya for her generosity and social responsibility, as well as to all those who contributed to the successful implementation of this programme.

The event was graced by The Colonel of the Regiment of The Gemunu Watch, The President of The Seva Vanitha Branch - GW Mrs. Shihani Abeywardana and the members of the - SVBGW, Senior Officer and other rankers.

Such initiatives reflect the collective commitment to uplifting communities during times of hardship and ensuring that children’s education remains uninterrupted, even in the face of natural disasters.
