The 27th Inter Regiment Practical Riffle Meet organized by Sri Lanka Army Small Arms Association (ASAA) was held from 28th May to 05 June 2018 at Diyatalawa Firing Range. The shooters of the Gemunu Watch were able to secured the championship for the consecutive 4th time in the firing history of the SL Army.
The meet was conducted mainly in two categories as open and novices with the participation of 21 regiments in the SL Army. The overall achievements made by the highlanders are as follows:

♦ Second Runner Up- Open Meet
♦ Second Runner Up- Novices Meet
♦ Best Shooter- Runner Up Entire Meet (S/417108 S/SGT Dammika WPN 6 GW)
♦ Best Shooter- Second Runner Up Entire Meet (S/14F00854 Sgt Nagodawithana 14 GW)

♦ Best Shooter (L CPL) – Runner Up (S/421028 L Cpl Hemapala JTM 11GW)
♦ Best Shooter (PTE) – Runner Up (S/423069 Pte Buddika AGAS 5 GW)
♦ Best Shooter (PTE) – Runner Up (S/431603 Pte Fernando WPR 5 GW)
Novices Meet♦ Best Shooter (Officers) – Second Runner Up ( C/10684 2Lt BLAC Jayasekara 3 (V) GW)
Finally with the guidance and dedication of the Colonel of the Regiment, Centre Commandant and advisor of the Regiment Firing Team and Commandant – Marksmanship and Sniper Training School (MSTS) Brigadier PML Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP, Highlanders were able to achieve the highest success in the 27th Inter Regiment Practical Riffle Meet. The Chief of the Staff and Colonel of the Regiment - the Gemunu Watch Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP VSV USP psc graced the prize giving ceremony as the chief guest.
