30TH REGIMENTAL ANNIVERSARY OF THE GEMUNU WATCH

The Gemunu Watch proudly celebrated it’s 30th anniversary on 19 March 2018 at the Regiment Centre, Kuruwita. In celebration of the anniversary a series of programmes were launched with the participation and the directions of Colonel of the Regiment, Major General WBDP Fernando RWP RSP USP psc.

The celebrations were commenced with observing multi religious observance; Sabaragamuwa Maha Saman Dewalaya, Hindu/Mosque/Church at Rathnapura to invoke blessing to the Regiment on 14, 15,17 March 2018. In addition, an alms giving to the twelve Maha Sanga at Edandawala Temple followed by Asirwadapooja at Temple of Regimental Centre were held with the participation of officers and other ranks of the Gemunu Watch.

The programme for the 30th anniversary of the Gemunu Watch as follows:

  • Guard turnout

  • Ceremonial parade

  • Commemoration of war heroes

  • All ranks tea

  • Commendation of GW sportsmen

Commendation of GW sportsmen was held and certificates were awarded to appreciation to the competitors who excelled in different fields of sport in international level, national level and army level.

Finally, in line with the Regimental anniversary the Regimental Council Meeting was held at the conference hall and all senior officers of the Gemunu Watch, staff officers of the regiment centre and other ranks were present to grace this memorable event.
