OPENING CEREMONY OF THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED GUARD ROOM AND MAIN GATE IN 19 GW
With Guidance of the Commanding Officer 19th Bn the Gemunuwatch Lt col KMV Kodithuwakku and Contribution of the whole officers and other Rankers. Newly Constructed Guard room and main gate was declared open by Commanding Officer of 19th bn the gemunu watch on 10th Decembr 2016. With related to 08th anniversary of the Battallion.

O/69367 Lt WAMC Weerakoon Appointed as an Intelligence officer of the 19th Bn the Gemunu watch And he started his duty on 24th November 2016.
APPOINMENT OF NEW REGIMENT SERGENT MAJOR OF 19 GW
S/411697 WO I KMA Senarathne RSP USP Appointed as a Regiment Sergent Major of the 19th Bn the Gemunu Watch And he started his duty on 10th December 2016.
BATTALION HISTORY
The Unit was raised on 12th. January 2009, during the final onslaught against the Tamil Terrorists in Terrorist dominated areas. Lieut. Colonel. J.M.C. Jayaweera was the first Commanding Officer of the Battalion.
During the brief phase of its operational deployment, the Unit was thoroughly involved in the final push planned against the secessionist terrorists and contributed immensely towards the rescue of Civilians from the clutches of ruthless terrorists.
01 Officer and 31 Other Ranks have been Killed-in-Action.
03 Officers and 76 Other Ranks have been Wounded-in-Action, some permanently.
