Lieutenant General Cornelis Johannes Matthijssen, the Force Commander of the MINUSMA in Mali visited the Sri Lankan 4th Combat Convoy Company (CCC) on Tuesday (27) December 2022 and appreciated the professional competence of the Sri Lankan peacekeepers.
Due to the high tendency of terrorist activities, other countries have refused to participate in the convoy escort duties.Eventhough, Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company engaged in the Combat Convoy duties and was able to defuse many IEDs successfully. There in, the ground tactics were followed to impede the terrorists' intentions was highly appreciated by the Force Commander and awarded a “FORCE COMMANDER'S COMMENDATION” certificate and the service appreciation medal to the 4th Combat Convoy Company. Further, the Force Commander and UN Officials praised the professionalism and discipline being maintained by the troops of the Sri Lanka Combat Convoy Company and setting a precedent for the other countries also. Finally, he wishes for the Sri Lankan peacekeepers to continue the same in future.
