A new ward for COVID-19 patients, constructed by Army troops in Mullaittivu was formally inaugurated and handed over to Health authorities on Saturday (29) by Major General Upali Rajapaksha, Commander Security Forces - Mullaittivu.
This new ward consists of 25 beds with all medical facilities was constructed by 68 Division and 681 Brigade troops under command to the Security Force HQ -Mullaittivu with the technical assistance of 16 Corps of Engineer Services (CES).
A few philanthropists financially contributed to the project, considering the surge of infectees in different areas of Mullaittivu.
Major General Keerthi Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division, Brigadier D.R.N Hettiarachchi, 681 Brigade Commander and Commanding Officer, 16 CES tirelessly completed the construction on the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.
