As of this morning (9), a total of 1896 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 6 Sri Lankan expatriates and 1890 of those positive cases are locally-identified ones, including the majority 411 from Colombo District, 358 from Kalutara District, 347 from Gampaha District, and 496 others from different Districts, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
By this morning (9), a total of 90,637 persons, inclusive of the fish market and Minuwangoda cluster and 32,621 others have been confirmed positive to COVID-19 from all over the country, including the dead. The affected rest of 26,571 after the New Year are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.
By Wednesday (9) morning, 123,233 persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the country and 103,097 of them after recovery have left hospitals and care centers.
In the past 24 hours, 1335 recovered patients have left hospitals and care centers. 22 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. Accordingly, the COVID-19 death toll in the country remains at 786 by this morning (9). As of this morning (9), 6,860 persons in 79 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.
By this morning (9) at the time this communiqué was released, the number of isolated areas remains unchanged other than the isolated areas that have been lifted.
